Sören Grünert, partner at BIG, will be the keynote speaker at the WILL BEE public finale. After opening BIG’s New York office in 2010 and the Zurich branch in 2023, he has played a key role in promoting sustainable architecture, with innovative and ecological solutions that redefine building standards. In Switzerland, major projects developed by BIG include the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet and Hôtel des Horlogers in Le Brassus, the Transitlager Dreispitz in Basel, and the all-wooden Pier A at Zurich airport.

Sören Grünert is a senior architect and associate at Bjarke Ingels Group. Sören worked in renowned design firms in the Netherlands, China and Germany before joining BIG in Copenhagen in 2010, leading a number of projects with a focus on sustainability, technology, infrastructure and public space. In 2010, Sören opened the BIG office in New York and in 2023 the Zurich branch. Sören was team leader for major projects in the New York office from concept to completion, such as VIA West 57 and the 40th Precinct Police Station in New York, the 1200 Intrepid office building in Philadelphia and the developments for the Albany Resort in the Bahamas. He has been involved in numerous infrastructure projects, such as the design of the Virgin Hyperloop stations and the prototype of the Pegasus Hyperloop pod, as well as the winning design of the competition for Dock A at Zurich Airport. Sören is currently leading the design team of the Zurich Airport project. He has participated in lectures and critiques at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Parsons School of Design, Cornell University and Harvard GSD.
